‘BROWN BAG LUNCH’ THURSDAY IN GRAVENHURST GREAT CHANCE TO CATCH UP WITH OLD FRIENDS — MAKE NEW ONES, SAYS JANE TEMPLETON

GRAVENHURST — Old friends, good time — and hopefully good weather.
That’s the forecast for a Thursday, July 23, noon reunion of Gravenhurst and Bracebridge high school students at Gull Lake Rotary Park gazebo.
In fact all students are welcome at 11:30 a.m. no matter what district school they attended.
The 12th annual “brown bag lunch” s a highlight of the summer calendar for many aging baby boomers who share memories photos — and a lot of laughs.
Not to speak of the odd curious looks: “Is that who I think it is?”
Though most wear name tags, matching them to faces is sometime humorous.
But all in good fun for the event begun in 2014 by Betty Allen who has moved away.
And Jane Templeton (originally from Bala and now living in Gravenhurst) has kept the popular tradition going.
She says they will have a “Memory Book” to not friends and family members who have passed.
“Whether you attended Gravenhurst, or Bracebridge High School, or have friends here in Muskoka. You are all welcome,” she says.
“Come, chat with old friends — make new friends.”
Don’t forget to “bring your lunch in a brown bag,” she says. “There are lots of delicious takeout food outlets nearby.”
So bring a beverage and a chair — your memories, photos of growing up in Muskoka. And come reminisce.”
