CITIZEN REPORTS LEAD TO FIFTH IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE THIS WEEK IN SOUTH MUSKOKA

MUSKOKA — Three more people face impaired driving charges in what police are calling an unsettling week, after police tracked them down today, Monday and Tuesday.

The OPP are calling it an “unsettling trend” as officers arrested and charged their fifth driver with Impaired Driving in as many days just after 10 a.m. today, Jan. 20, on Muskoka Road 118 in Bracebridge.

A member of the public called police when they became concerned about the ability of a man to be driving after he got into a vehicle and started to drive away in a commercial area with many pedestrians.

Officers located the vehicle and subsequently arrested and charged 56-year-old Gavin Morrison, of Bracebridge, with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a), Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, ON on February 21, 2023 to answer to his charges.

On Monday Jan. 16, at 1:20 a.m., they say a member of the public called police after they found a vehicle parked in their driveway on Ziska Road in Bracebridge, playing loud music and then left.

Officers located the vehicle after receiving a second call on Muskoka Rd. 118 in Muskoka Lakes Township.

They subsequently arrested and charged 47-year-old Yana Marshall, of Bracebridge, with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Marshall is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge March 14, 2023.

Police credit another member of the public for taking a suspected impaired driver off the road Jan. 17, just before 5:30 p.m., on Talisman Drive in Gravenhurst.

Police say a concerned motorist called when they noticed what appeared to be dangerous driving behaviour on Bay Street and cautiously followed it until it entered a commercial area on Talisman Drive.

Police arrived and subsequently arrested and charged 57-year-old Suzanne Mossman, of Gravenhurst, with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

Mossman is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, on Feb. 7, 2023 to answer to her charges.
