MAN RESCUED FROM BRACEBRIDGE MAIN STREET APARTMENT FIRE LAST NIGHT

BRACEBRIDGE — A man who escaped an apartment fire last night above the main street was treated in hospital for smoke inhalation.

Bracebridge Fire Department and Muskoka Paramedics helped rescue him about 9 p.m., Sunday, off Manitoba Street in the building south of the Royal Bank.

He was in one of four apartments. The tenants in the other three units were able to return home later in the night.

Fire officials estimate damage at between $50,000 and $100,000 damage.

The cause of the blaze is not believed to be suspicious, they say.

Emergency services responded to the back of Manitoba Street last night at 9 p.m. for a fire call involving four units. One man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. (Michelle Sommerville, MOOSE FM)
