MUSKOKA CHIEFS DROP FIRE RATING TO MODERATE AS OF TUESDAY

MUSKOKA — A few days of rain with more on the way later in the week has Muskoka fire chiefs downgrading its total fire ban across the district issued last week.

They said Tuesday that fire danger rating is now at moderate.

That means small fires are permitted keeping in mind that no daytime burning is allowed.

If you burn you must have adequate tools and water to extinguish the fire if the need arises and you must be with your fire at all times.

After a return to sun Wednesday, the weather forecast through the weekend is for more rain.

Dark clouds over North Bay Sunday ended a week of hot weather and the beginning of a wet week ahead, which has MNRF pilots fighting fires across the region including Algonquin Park last week. (Jocque Coulombe photo, MNRF attack pilot)
