HUNTSVILLE RIDE CHECK RESULTS IN DRUG, WEAPONS CHARGES SUNDAY

HUNTSVILLE — A Scarborough man picked up by police for probation violations faces numerous additional charges including drugs and possession of explosives when he appears again in court Thursday.

Provincial police arrested and charged a Hanad Ahmed, 26, after pulling him over in a RIDE check.

They say that on Sunday, July 18, at 1 a.m. officers were conducting a roadside inspection on Main St. West.

Their initial investigation resulted in Ahmed being charged with possession of a controlled substance.

They also discovered he was on probation.

Upon further investigation drugs and prohibited weapons were found in the vehicle.

Two Percocet pills, various break and enter tools, a spring-assisted knife, a small baseball bat and an explosive device were seized by police.

Ahmed is charged with:

  • Possessing explosives for an unlawful purpose contrary to section 82 (1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to section 91 (2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

He was held for bail hearing later in the day, July 18, in the Ontario Court of Justice Court Huntsville, where he was remanded into custody scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Court Huntsville on July 22, 2021.

An OPP RIDE check resulted in numerous charges for a Scarborough man who was held for bail hearing Sunday and will be back in court Thursday to face a court date on his charges.
