GRAVENHURST MAN CHARGED WITH WAVING FIREARM

GRAVENHURST — A firearms complaint that had Bethune Drive closed north of Winewood Avenue Tuesday night has led to gun charges against a local man here.

Provincial police say the northern entrance to town was closed June 30 at 8:47 p.m., as OPP officers responded to a report of a man waving a firearm on his property just north of Carey’s Pub.

Police closed the area to all traffic to investigate and arrested and charged Norman Nawrocki, 61, with:

  • Uttering Threats CC 264.1(1)(a)
  • Pointing a Firearm CC 87
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1) X 2
  • Careless Storage of Firearm CC 86(1) X 2

Two firearms were also seized.

Nawrocki is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, Sept. 8.

Police blocked off Bethune Drive north in Gravenhurst last Tuesday night, June 30, and charged a male resident accused of pointing a firearm and uttering a threat.
