MOTORCYCLIST WITHOUT HELMET DITCHES BIKE, LANDS IN HOSPITAL

GRAVENHURST — An Orillia man was airlifted to Toronto with life-threatening injuries Tuesday, after ditching his motorcycle while not wearing a helmet.

Provincial police say officers are investigating the crash June 30 at 8 p.m. on Southwood Road in Gravenhurst.

They say a nearby resident called 911 after the man who was riding without a helmet left the roadway and landed in the ditch.

Muskoka EMS and the Gravenhurst Fire Department responded to assist.

The 46-year-old Orillia man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital with life altering injuries.

Southwood Road was closed while the OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit attended to assist with this ongoing investigation.
