SECOND DRIVING CHARGE IN 48 HOURS FOR BRACEBRIDGE MAN

BRACEBRIDGE — A suspended Bracebridge driver — charged just last Friday with multiple drug and driving charges — was arrested again 48 hours later and charged with stealing a vehicle.

Provincial police said today that on Sunday April 19 at 11 a.m. Bracebridge detachment officers were dispatched to a complaint where a known suspect had reportedly  taken the caller’s vehicle without permission and damaged it.

Officers responded to the area on Armstrong Street, located the suspect and conducted an investigation into the situation.

As a result, police arrested and charged 33-year-old Louis Close with the following offenses:

  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent CC 335(1)
  • Mischief Under $5000 CC 430(4)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation CC 733.1(1)
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance (Opioid) CDSA 4(1)
  • Fraud Under $5000 CC 380(1)(b)
  • Driving While Under Suspension HTA 53(1)

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 30, 2020 to answer to his charges.

That’s a week after he is scheduled to appear in the same court to answer Friday’s drug and driving charges.
