INQUEST INTO 2017 CONSTRUCTION DEATH IN PORT CARLING

PORT CARLING — The Ontario coroner’s office has called an inquest into the death of a 42-year-old Bracebridge construction worker who died on a job site in Port Carling two years ago this past spring.

On Friday, Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Central West Office, announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Darrell Joseph Pitre.

Pitre, 42, died in hospital on April 22, 2017, from injuries sustained from a fall on March 3, 2017, at a construction site in Port Carling.

An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pitre’s death.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing future deaths.

Details regarding the date and location will be provided at a later date when the information becomes available, says a release from Ontario’s Ministry of Solictor General.

Dr. Mary E. Bourne will preside as inquest coroner and Frank Giordano will be counsel to the coroner.

PITRE, Darrell Joseph Died suddenly as the result of complications from a recent accident on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the age of 42 years. Beloved husband of Emma Dupuis. Loving father of of Sierra. Dear son of Patrick (Joy) Pitre and Kathryn Fudge. Brother of Jeff (Cara Cumberland), Mitchell, Stacey and Sarah. Son-in-law of Mario and Lisa Dupuis. He will be sadly missed by his dog Spook.

Dr. Mary E. Bourne will preside as inquest coroner into the death of Darrel Petrie April 17, 2017.
