MUSKOKA — They finally got the results.

Election results finally came in Tuesday night after a 24-hours delay.

Maybe not the ones some expected — but at least they were final counts.

After a day’s delay, and a lot of head-shaking, Muskoka mayors and councillors were all but confirmed.

Unofficially, at least.

There will be four new mayors in Muskoka.

In Bracebridge and Huntsville, Graydon Smith and Scott Aichison were returned, respectively, to carry on the hospitals battle.

In controversial Muskoka Lakes Township, Don Furniss was upset in by councillor Phil Harding in a heated battle involving the Swift River hydro project opposed by the Save the Bala Falls group and new waterfront housing.

Lake of Bays Mayor Bob Young was upset by Terry Glover; and Georgian Bay Township Mayor Larry Braid was defeated by Peter Koetsier.

In Gravenhurst Paul Kelly was acclaimed as the lone mayoralty candidate.

Louise Clodd held her public school board seat, over Johnnie Awesome, of Gravenhurst.

The Catholic school trustee Carol Corriveau-Truchon was acclaimed.

The vote for District of Muskoka chair takes place among elected district councillors at the first district meeting in December.

More later.
