Manitoba Street in Bracebridge to officially end at four corners

BRACEBRIDGE — Bracebridge is shortening its main street – by a 150 metres or so.
The four corners at Ontario Street, Entrance Drive will be the southern terminus point starting this year.
That means Bird Mill Mews is moving — addresses.
The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce and Riverwalk restaurant will now be listed as #3 Ecclestone Drive.
For years the mailing and 911 address of Bird Mill Mews and its two tenants was No. 1 Manitoba Street.
Manitoba Street, the town’s main street, has long had its southern terminus in the middle of the Silver Bridge — halfway across the north branch of the Muskoka River.
From there southwest it’s Ecclestone Drive, down around the Bracebridge Falls and out past the Comfort Inn to the Wellington Street bridge.
This is if there are no public concerns after the town proposed a bylaw to change the name of Manitoba Street, from the Silver Bridge to the intersection of Ontario Street /Entrance Drive, to Ecclestone Drive;
The proposed bylaw will come before the council for consideration at its regular meeting January 24.
Anyone wanting to comment is asked to write by or before Thursday January 18 to Lori McDonald, director of corporate services/clerk. Her email is lmcdonald@bracebridge.ca
