‘Armed’ robber sought after Scotiabank held up in Orillia Friday

ORILLIA — Police are looking for a young man in blue jeans and black coat after a bank robbery here Friday.

Provincial police in Orillia say that on January 5, they responded to a 911 call at 3:43 p.m.
A lone male entered the Scotiabank branch located at 3305 Monarch Drive.
The man said he had a firearm — although one was not observed.
After a brief encounter the male fled the bank in an unknown direction or mode of travel.
Police release a video picture of him entering the bank.
He is described as age 18 to 25 and between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2 tall.
He has thin build and was wearing blue jeans and a black coat.
The OPP Orillia Crime Unit along with the Orillia OPP detachment continue to investigate this incident.
They ask that if anyone recognizes the person in the picture was a witness to this incident or has information regarding the circumstances they are encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
