MUSKOKA — Police ended a high-speed chase here this morning involving a stolen vehicle by using a spiked belt on Hwy. 11.

They responded to a report of a robbery on Main Street East in Huntsville, July 30, at 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report that a citizen had been approached by a male who was carrying an object and who demanded the keys to the victim’s vehicle before fleeing in the stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Officers from several OPP detachments responded to the incident, assisted by the OPP K9 Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).

At 10:15 a.m., the stolen vehicle was located travelling southbound on Highway 11 near Canning Road in the Town of Gravenhurst.

Where officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, safely bringing the vehicle to a stop, they said.

The male driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle Duffy-Radzikowsky, 27,of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery with Weapon
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Driving while under Suspension
  • Possession Property obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to comply with Release Order X 2
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order X 2

Duffy-Radzikowsky was held for a bail hearing.

 

The investigation remains ongoing, and further information, will be released as it becomes available.

Police nabbed the suspect within 45 minutes of the stolen vehicle report.
