DOUBLE FATALITY SUV ACCIDENT ON HWY. 400 OVERNIGHT THURSDAY, NEAR CROOKED BAY ROAD IN GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP

GEORGIAN BAY A fiery middle of the night collision today on Hwy. 400 North has claimed two people.

Police say that on Thursday, June 11, shortly after 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving an SUV that subsequently caught fire on Highway 400 northbound near Crooked Bay Road in Georgian Bay. West of Bala.

It happened just north of Six Mile Lake Provincial Park and south of the Kanien’kehá:ka Iohatátie Road (formerly Muskoka Road 38) entrance to the Wahta First Nation community.

The occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identities of the deceased are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Highway 400 remained closed between White Falls Road and Kanien’kehá:ka Iohatátie Road (formerly Muskoka Road 38) for several hours for the investigation and has since reopened.
