DRIVER HITS SNOWBANK, FACES DRUG-DRIVING CHARGE
GRAVENHURST — A Sunday driver turned out to be a danger to himself and others on Hwy. 11.
Provincial police say that on January 26, at 7:40 p.m., OPP officers were sent chasing a vehicle that was travelling northbound on Hwy. 11 in Gravenhurst in a reportedly “very erratic manner.”
The vehicle eventually crashed into a snowbank near Sedore Road.
Police and EMS responded to calls for help and found the accident scene, south of town.
As a result of the OPP investigation, they arrested and charged 45-year-old Jason Schell, of Georgian Bay Twp, with:
- Impaired Operation by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a )
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Heroin) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(1)
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle CC 320.13(1)
- Driving While Suspended HTA 53(1)
- Fail to Remain HTA 200(1)(a)
He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge February 11, 2020 to answer to his charges.
