GRAVENHURST — The race is on … three weeks to Halloween.

And 21 days to the end of the month when the Bay and Beyond construction “will be done.”

So says Nick Miandro, the community liaison for Trisan the contractor that has been working its way up street from the Muskoka Wharf to the Muskoka Road main street.

“Definitely,” he said Thursday at the candidate’s meeting at the Opera House.

He says they will be working full-out to finish off the project that’s been underway for well in to two years starting the first week of June 2024.

The final phase of work on replacing water, sewer and storm water pipes, sidewalks, boulevards and roadway paving continues as between Sarah Street and the post office clock tower.

It’s been a bit of a grind, but Miandro assures the end is in sight.

Which means they need good weather for the final property, home and business hook-ups the next few weeks for the trick ’o treaters to hit the main street connection to Muskoka Lake, West Gravenhurst, Torrance, Bala and beyond.

This is the final phase that was originally scheduled to be done now down Brock Street to Bethune Drive. The District of Muskoka and Town of Gravenhurst partners say they are going to have to issue a new contract tender to finish off that part of the job. No sign yet on that yet to start next spring.

Last year they barely made grade on the first stretch up to Greavette Street before the snow came down a day after their final lift of asphalt.

Time will tell the next 21 days to see if they make this year’s deadline.

Miandro says they will.

We’ll see.

Bay Street from the main street west has been closes all summer as progress creeps up street, that left some buisinesses along the stretch complaining about access.
Within site as far as the eye can see. But it’s still blocks to go to finish a project started in June 2024.
The post office corner intersection should be open by November, says Trisan’s Nick Miandro.
