HALIBURTON — A 29-year-old water cross snowmobile racer died yesterday afternoon after colliding with another competitor at a Haliburton lake resort, east of Huntsville.

Police say that on Sunday, September 27, shortly before 1:30 p.m., they were called to reports of a competition collision in which drivers race laps around a water course.

The police investigation into the collision is being conducted with assistance from the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.

The accident occurred just south of where police were called about the same time to a climber was knocked out and had to be rescued from a nearby Bear Mountain trail just west of Algonquin Park.
