TOTAL FIRE BAN COVERS ALL MUSKOKA MUNICIPALITIES AS HEAT WAVE CONTINUES TO SWEEP ACROSS DISTRICT

MUSKOKA — Put out those fires — if you’ve got one.

And if you don’t — don’t even think about starting one if you live anywhere in Muskoka.

Fire chiefs this morning at 11 a.m. in the six municipalities issued a complete ban on any types of outdoor open fire burning in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Georgian Bay, Muskoka Lakes and Lake of Bays.

The ban applies 24/7 without exception.

This applies as a pall hangs over Muskoka a second day of a severe yellow smog from north and south blankets the area leaving a bad taste.

The ban stretches west to esat from Georgian Bay the the Kawartha Lakes and north to south from South River to Severn Bridge.
The alert was issued at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, for all six towns and townships across Muskoka.
