STOLEN SKID STEER FOUND IN WHITBY; GRAVENHURT WOMAN FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES INCLUDING IMPAIRED AND STUNT DRIVING
MUSKOKA — The theft of a $70,000 skid steer over the weekend and a charge of stunt driving last Friday top today’s police calls in south Muskoka.
Police say that July 10, at 3 p.m., an officer was doing speed enforcement on Muskoka Road 169 in Torrance and stopped a vehicle for travelling considerably higher than the posted speed limit.
An investigation led to an arrested and charges against 35-year-old Jessica Vliestra, of Gravenhurst, with:
- Impaired Driving – Over 80,
- Stunt Driving,
- Driving vehicle with open liquor
- and Driving vehicle with cannabis readily available.
Vliestra is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge August 25, 2026.
Police remind drivers the consequences of driving while impaired include an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment.
Construction equipment stolen
Police are seeking information related to the theft of construction equipment over the weekend.
On Monday, July 13, at 2:45 p.m., officers were called to the theft of a skid steer (small earth mover) valued at $70,000, from an address on Highway 11 North between Kilworthy Road and Rainbow Circle, in Gravenhurst.
The theft occurred sometime Saturday or Sunday.
Police were able to track the equipment to an address in Whitby and have recovered the stolen property.
