LAKE MUSKOKA COTTAGE IN GRAVENHURST DESTROYED EARLY TUESDAY ON LAWLAND HEIGHTS ROAD BETWEEN LAKESHORE DRIVE AND NARROWS ROAD

GRAVENHURST — Firefighters are investigating an early Tuesday morning fire they said had pretty much destroyed a Lake Muskoka cottage by the time they arrived.

The Lawlands Heights Drive blaze was reported by a passerby at 5:40 a.m., on the road that runs between the Narrows Road and Lakeshore Drive in West Gravenhurst.

That’s east of Hwy. 169 near Pine Lake Cottages and directly across the lake from the Taboo Resort.

All Gravenhurst fire stations, including six fire trucks and 20 firefighters were called to the scene.

They reported on their Twitter post that those crews had extinguished the fire and cleared the site.

“Nobody was home and the time and the fire was into the decay stage when crews first arrived.

“Investigation is ongoing.”
