MAY IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES ALMOST DOUBLE 2024, WITH 5 ALONE THIS WEEK IN THE SOUTH END OF MUSKOKA

MUSKOKA — Every day someone is drinking and driving.

it’s a rare day when police don’t charge one of them.

Saturday to Saturday five people were charged this — across the south of Muskoka alone.

This brings the total of drivers charged in May to 20, almost double the number charged last year in that month.

Yesterday, for example, just after midnight an Oakville man was charged in Port Carling.

Police say that on May 31, at 12:20 a.m., an officer was conducting general patrols proactively on Muskoka Road 118 in Muskoka Lakes Township and conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driving in a concerning manner in Muskoka Lakes Township.

Police arrested and charged 43-year-old Jason Bock, of Oakville, with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

Bock is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 24, 2025.

The day before two local people were charged.

On May 30, at 9 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a disturbance on Ann Street in Bracebridge.

After conducting an investigation into the incident the arrested and charged 43-year-old Marcus Berger, of Bracebridge, with Operation while Impaired, Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

And Operation while prohibited.

Berger is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 8, 2025.

Just over 90 minutes later, at 10:40 pm., officers responded reports concerning the driving of a member of the public on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst.

The vehicle was located and officers stopped it near Cedar Lane in Bracebridge.

Arrested and charged was 66-year-old Barbara Rosebrugh, of Huntsville.

She faces Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired – Over 80 charges.

Rosebrugh is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge June 24, 2025.

Last week, on May 24, just before 7 p.m., police responded to more reports concerning driving of a member of the public on Highway 11 North in Bracebridge.

The vehicle was located a short time later travelling south on Highway 11 South where officers pulled it over.

They arrested and charged 38-year-old Alanna Rogers, of Bracebridge, with Operation while Impaired, Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

And Dangerous Driving.

Rogers is to will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge June 17, 2025.

The day before, on Friday May 23, just before 3 p.m., officers received another concern from a member of the public who was driving on Highway 11 South in Bracebridge.

They were concerned about the driving behaviour of another motorist.

Police found the vehicle arresting and charging 34-year-old Kimberly Elliott, of Barrie, with Operation while Impaired, Operation while Impaired – Over 80 and Operation while Prohibited.

Elliott is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 24, 2025.

Five more impaired driving charges this past week bring to 20 the number in May.
