MOTORCYCLIST SEVERELY INJURED SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN HUNTSVILLE, ALONG WITH ANOTHER ACCIDENT AND 2 IMPAIRED CHARGES
HUNTSVILLE – A motorcyclist remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after colliding with another vehicle here yesterday afternoon. On June 1, at 1:10 p.m. police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Muskoka Road 10, west of Brunel Road.
Muskoka Road 10 was closed for several hours while police investigated.
Police say Huntsville Fire and Muskoka Ambulance arrived and the motorcyclist was transported to a trauma centre for what was believed to be life threatening injuries.
The O.P.P. Technical Collision Investigation unit attended the scene to complete their investigation. This is an on-going investigation. There are no updates on the injuries of the motorcycle operator at the time of this release.
A second accident, Saturday May 31 at 3:44 p.m., had the OPP responding to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Camp Kitchen Road in Huntsville.
When emergency services arrived police detected alcohol consumption and identified the driver who officers suspected had been consuming.
The driver was required to provide a sample into an Approved Screening Device and failed.
As a result Jacob Lake, 19, of Huntsville, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Novice driver – BAC above 0
Lake is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 8, 2025.
He was also issued a 90 Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
Ontario has a graduated licensing system for new or young drivers. One of the conditions is drivers must have zero alcohol in their body when operating a vehicle.
On Thursday, May 29, at 1:34 p.m. police on general patrol on Highway 11 observed a vehicle driving erratically and the vehicle was stopped on suspicion it was alcohol-related.
The driver provided a sample for an Approved Screening Device, which he failed.
Samuel Harris, 34 of Bracebridge, was been charged with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
Harris is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 8, 2025.
He, too, was issued a 90 Administrative Driver’s License Suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
