CALLING ALL LIBERALS ‘STAT’: WANT TO RUN AGAINST SMITH OR AITCHISON?

PARRY SOUND-MUSKOKA (Jan. 29) — A provincial election call today has local Liberals running late, but still looking for a candidate to challenge MPP Graydon Smith in four weeks.
“The greatest concern right now is finding candidates for the upcoming elections,” says Bill Condy, the Parry Sound-Muskoka federal party chair.
“The most pressing right now is the provincial election.
“Unfortunately this is a stat situation.”
He says the Ontario Liberal Party is working to finalize its slate of candidates ahead of a provincial election. Leadership is seeking a local candidate who can carry the party’s banner and present a strong contrast to Doug Ford’s team.
Election Day is February 27.
Yesterday Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie launched her campaign in Barrie — wearing a white ball cap with red lettering that read ‘Reak Leaders Fix Healthcare.’
Meanwhile, as the likelihood of a national election later this year following the Feb. 9 federal Liberal seems certain, Condy says the new board of the Parry Sound-Muskoka Federal Liberal Association is “up and running.”
And they, too, are looking for someone to take on MP Scott Aitchison.
Condy says: “The Liberals have a team available to support and mentor the person we put forward as a candidate.”
