THIRD PERSON CHARGED AFTER RASH OF BREAK-INS IN GRAVENHURST LAST WEEK

GRAVENHURST — A rash of recent break-ins has led to a third person here being charged with incidents last week, according to police on Saturday.

His charges come after two other Gravenhurst men were also charged last week with multiple offences relating to several incidents in the town in October and November.

Police say that on Nov. 8 and 9 officers responded two smash and grab thefts in window storefronts in the downtown core, in which three guitars and jewellery were stolen.

On Nov. 9 one person was charged in relation to those offences.

Two days later, on Nov. 11 police charged a second person, 43-year-old Darryl Schell, of Gravenhurst, with Break and Enter CC 348(1)(b) x2 and Trafficking in Stolen Goods CC 355.5(b).

Schell is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Dec. 6, 2022.

The Currie Bros. music store was the first of two break and enter sites Tuesday and Wednesday in Gravenhurst last week.
Gem & Dia Jewellers in Gravenhust was the second store to suffer a break-in last week, in which items were stolen from the front window display case.
