WOMAN DIES FOLLOWING SHOOTING LAST WEEK THAT CLAIMED MAN IN BRACEBRIDGE

BRACEBRIDGE — A fatal shooting early last week in the east end of Bracebridge has left a second person dead.

Police are investigating the multiple fatalities after receiving a firearm call July 27.

They say shortly after 2 p.m. emergency services responded to reports of gunshots on Stoneleigh Road, off Hwy. 117 near Baysville.

Two people were located at the scene with gunshot wounds.

A man was pronounced deceased at the scene and a woman was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she has since succumbed to her injuries.

A post mortem examination has been completed.

And the deceased have been identified as James Williamson, 56, and Melisa Burton, 52, Burton, both of Niagara Falls.

Investigators said at the time it as an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety.

The OPP Crime Unit at Bracebridge is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
