BOATER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AFTER HE LANDS IN WATER WHEN BOAT CAPSIZES

LAKE OF BAYS Police have charged a boater with impaired operation on Rebecca Lake after a boat capsized Saturday morning northwest of Huntsville.

OPP say that on June 11, just before 10 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired individual in the water after his boat capsized north of Limberlost Lodge and east of Oxbow Lake.

When police got to him they suspected he was impaired, arrested him and transported them to the Huntsville Detachment for further breath tests.

As a result, Oleg Rijenko, 56, of Vaughan, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Assault a Peace Officer

Rijenko is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville July 26, 2022.

Oleg Rijenko, 56, was reported to have been in the water after his boat capsized in Rebecca Lake, northwest of Huntsville. The small lake, just south of the larger Bella Lake, is located north of Limberlost Lodge and east of Oxbow Lake.
