BODY FOUND IN WAHTA DURING SEARCH FOR MISSING WASHAGO WOMAN

WAHTA — Police have suspended their search for a missing woman here after a body was found here late yesterday morning.

The OPP say they located human remains during a search for a missing person in Wahta Mohawk First Nation Wednesday morning.

They say that at on Nov. 15, at 11 a.m., a 49-year-old Diana Kasper, of Washago, was reported to have failed to return from a walk in a wooded area in Wahta.

Search and rescue efforts were commenced in the area.

Yesterday at about 10:20 a.m., a body was located in the search area.

They say the death is not believed to be suspicious and there is no concern for public safety.

The name of the deceased will be withheld pending positive identification and next of kin notification.

Meanwhile, the search has been suspended until the identity can be confirmed.

OPP in Bracebridge, along with Muskoka Crime Unit, Orillia OPP, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Aviation and Canine Units assisted with the search.

The Muskoka Crime Unit is continuing the investigation with assistance from the OPP Central Region Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Diana Kasper, 49, was last seen Friday, Nov. 12. Police have suspended their search for her pending identification of a body found yesterday in Wahta Mohawk First Nation. The person’s death is not considered suspicious, say the OPP.
