5 BRACEBRIDGE CASES HELP MUSKOKA AGAIN SURPASS SIMCOE 6-5

SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — For a second straight day Muskoka has surpassed Simcoe in COVID cases — 6 to 5.

Yesterday it was 4 to 2.

This as Delta cases continue on the rise with 73 today, 70 yesterday, 59 Tuesday and 57 Monday.

Five young people in Bracebridge — 2 girls and 3 boys — under the age of 18 with close contact and a young man in Gravenhurst, also with close contact, are the latest cases being reported by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit Thursday.

They were all reported today, but with first episodes dating from July 1 to 7.

The Simcoe cases were in Barrie (2) and Innifil, Midland and Penetanguishene.

This after months of calls for the health unit, which considers most recent cases of the Delta variety, to be split up — something Premier Doug Ford said last week in Bracebridge he could consider.

Meanwhile, Ontario also had a jump in cases to 210 with 4 deaths. Yesterday Public Health Ontario reported there were 194 cases and no deaths.

Today the provincial picture looks like this: Toronto 18 (35), York 4 (3), Peel 23 (26), North Bay-Parry Sound 1 (2) and Porcupine 2 (1), Simcoe-Muskoka 12 (4).
