BRACEBRIDGE MAN CHARGED AFTER VICTIM WAS ‘SHOT AT’

BRACEBRIDGE — A 40-year-old Bracebridge man is in custody to appear in bail court tomorrow morning after a shooting incident here Saturday night.

Provincial police responded to a 911 gun call from a member of the public reported being fired at at an address near Balls Drive May 8 at 8 p.m.

The victim said he had gone to the residence and was “shot at,” said an OPP report this morning.

The man was not injured and was able to get away.

Officers attended and after securing the area located the suspect who they say was cooperative with police.

James Gostick was charged with the following:

  • Pointing a Firearm CC 87
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88
  • Careless Use of a Firearm CC 86(1)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 CC 355(b)

Gostick was for bail and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on 10 May, 2021.
