BRACEBRIDGE MAN CHARGED AFTER STOLEN VEHICLE HITS DITCH

GRAVENHURST — Police arrested a Bracebridge man and are looking for a suspect who fled after a stolen car landed in the snowbank just after midnight Wednesday.

At 12:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Hwy. 11 southbound, near Highway 118 in Gravenhurst.

They say witnesses had observed the vehicle weaving within its lane and ultimately entering the right ditch.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Brampton and the two male occupants attempted to flee the scene, one of whom was located by officers nearby and arrested.

The second man is still at large, however police say there are no safety concerns to the public.

Police have charged 34-year-old Louis Close with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a).

Close was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Feb. 4, 2021.
