GRAVENHURST — Despite pandemic pressures, Sunday’s Rotary TV/Internet Auction wrapped up one of its best years in recent memory.

Thanks to generous donors, sponsors and bidders in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge, more than $36,000 gross was raised.

And after expenses, more than $30,000 was netted for the service club’s community and international charitable projects.

“It’s amazing,” president Pat Bongers reported to club members in their weekly Monday Zoom meeting.

“Thanks to everyone, we had one of our best auctions in years.”

He said while figures are preliminary it’s about $5,000 better than in the past few years.

And it’s all because the community rallied in hard times, even though most thought it would a difficult sell due to COVID-19.

There were more than 325 items with a retail value of $50,000-plus.

Auction items can still be picked up today at 1528 Muskoka Road North.

Rotary hosts Tawnya Habel and Dave Reid opened bidding Sunday on more than 325 items valued at $50,000, as the service club netted more than $30,000 for its many community and international charitable projects thanks to donors, bidders and sponsors in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge.
