TRAIL CAM CAPTURES CANAL ROAD ARSON SUSPECTS IN RAMARA

RAMARA — A shed fire back in September now has police revisiting the case after trail cam video came to light showing two suspects beside the building.

And the OPP want to know if you can recognize them — because they can’t.

Provincial police are investigating the cause of the blaze that engulfed the small outbuilding at a residence on Canal Road, Ramara Township.

They say today that in the early hours of Sept. 15 flames consumed the structure, which is located off Hwy. 11 east of Brechin and Gamebridge on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Canal Road runs between Side Road 5 and Simcoe Road.

And at the time — 77 days ago — there was no indication that the damaged property was suspicious.

However, photos obtained from a nearby trail camera show two suspects in the area with what appears to be a gas can.

Officers have been unable to identify the two suspects and are asking for the assistance of the public.

If you recognize the suspects or have any information about this crime, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or report minor occurrences online by visiting www.opp.ca/reporting. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit your information online at www.crimestopperssdm.com if you have any information on this crime or any other crime.

Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and you will remain anonymous. Being anonymous, you will not testify in court and your information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.00.  The Orillia OPP is committed to serving our province by protecting its citizens, upholding the law and preserving public safety.

Can you recognize these people? A grainy trail cam photo, say police, appears to show suspects wanted in a now suspicious shed fire in Ramara east of Brechin and Gamebridge off Hwy. 12 on Sept. 15.
Flames shoot up from an early morning fire in this photo released by police and which appear to show vehicle headlights partially hidden by trees on the left.
