HAMILTON MAN CHARGED AFTER CAR HITS POLE

HUNTSVILLE The driver of a car that left the road and hit a pole faces numerous driving and theft-related charges Saturday.

Police say they responded to a single motor vehicle collision on West St., Huntsville.

They say the vehicle had driven off the road into a ditch and hit a pole and that he had fled the scene on foot.

Upon arrival at the collision scene officers determined that the vehicle involved in the collision was stolen.

Officers located and arrested Cody Comeau, 29, of Hamilton, a short time later on Silver Street.

As a result of the investigation Comeau has been charged with the following:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 contrary to section 354 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • possession of break and enter tools contrary to section 351(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Careless driving contrary to section 130 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to remain at collision scene contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive motor vehicle with no licence contrary to section 32(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

Comeau was released to appearing in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville, Jan. 6, 2021.

A car that landed in a ditch hitting a pole has led to charges against a 29-year-old Hamilton man Saturday in Huntsville.
