ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION IN DOWNTOWN ORILLIA SATURDAY EVENING

ORILLIA An attempted abduction downtown here Saturday evening has police looking for help from the public to find the suspected kidnapper.

Provincial police say that on Nov. 14, just after 6 p.m., a female was walking on Front Street near Elgin Street when she was approached by a male who had gotten out of a car.

The male engaged the victim in conversation and when she tried to walk away, the OPP says he grabbed her and tried to force her into his vehicle.

The victim was able to get away uninjured and the male got back into his car and drove away southbound on Front Street towards Atherley Road.

The suspect is described as black, aged 30 to 40, about six feet tall, with a stocky build, and short black beard. He was wearing a red sweater and a red, yellow, green and black knitted Jamaican rastacap.

The vehicle is described as an older model silver sedan.

A man who grabbed a woman off the street Saturday in Orillia on Front Street near Elgin Street, and tried to force her into a car, is being sought by police.
