HELICOPTER CRASH, 4 PEOPLE SURVIVE 20-FOOT DROP

ADJALA-TOSORONTIO — Four people were lucky to survive a helicopter crash near Alliston.

Provincial police that at 12:50 p.m. Saturday Oct. 3 OPP at Nottawasaga responded to a crash at a private landing pad on Concession Road 7, southwest of Barrie off Hwy. 89.

An investigation reveals the aircraft was in the process of landing and was about 20 feet above the ground when the accident occurred.

The reason for the sudden drop in altitude is undetermined at this point, say police.

Two people were transported to hospital by Simcoe County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for observation and later released with no reported injuries.

The helicopter’s owner/pilot, Marvin Chantler, was attempting to land at his private property.

Police continue to investigate.
