OPIOID TRAFFICKING CHARGE IN 2019 HUNTSVILLE FATALITY

HUNTSVILLE — A 16-month police investigation into the death of woman here led to opioid trafficking charges yesterday against a Huntsville woman.

Provincial police say that on May 20, 2019, police were called at 10:30 p.m. to assist a person in medical distress at a residence on Main Street West.

They say a 28-year-old female was later pronounced dead in hospital.

As a result, an investigation into this death is ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with members of the Huntsville OPP Crime Unit and the Community Street Crime Enforcement Unit.

On Friday, September 25, 2020, Sara Beardsworth, a 33 year old female from Huntsville was arrested and charged with -Traffic in Schedule I substance – Opioid, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Beardsworth was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Huntsville, Oct. 21, 2020.
