GRAVENHURST, HUNTSVILLE MEN CAUGHT IN $16,000 DRUG SEIZURE

HUNTSVILLE — Two Muskoka men face drug charges after a traffic complaint on Hwy. 11 yesterday afternoon that led the seizure of a large quantity of drugs police estimate to be worth $16,000.

The OPP say Cody Brownlee, 29, of Gravenhurst, and Lucas Shea, 26, of Huntsville, were stopped after a traffic complaint.

Police found the pair Friday Sept. 25 at 4:15 p.m.

They say officers located the vehicle “driving in an erratic manner.”

As a result of a roadside investigation they arrested the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug.

And the driver and passenger were charged with other drug-related offences.

The driver was transported to the Huntsville OPP Detachment to submit to testing by a drug recognition expert.

The vehicle was also towed to the Huntsville OPP detachment to be processed with the assistance of the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

Police seized approximately 22.6 grams of Fentanyl, 5 grams of powder cocaine, 3.75 grams of crack cocaine, 418 grams of cannabis, and $780 in cash.

The value of the seized property has a street value of up to approximately $16,000.

Brownlee, the driver, is charge with six offences:

  • Operation while impaired by drugs S. 320.14(1)(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Crack Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Cannabis For the Purpose of Selling S. 10(2) of the Cannabis Act
  • Fail to Stop for Police S. 216(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • In addition, Brownlee received an Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension for a period of 90 days.

Passenger Shea faces four charges:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Crack Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl for the Purposes of Trafficking S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Cannabis For the Purpose of Selling S. 10(2) of the Cannabis Act.

Brownlee was released on an Undertaking to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville Nov. 25, 2020.

Shea was held for bail at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket via video this morning, Sept. 26.

Police say they seized an estimated $16,000 in drugs, along with cash after stopping two Muskoka men Sept. 25 on Hwy. 11 in Huntsville.
