FIVE MUSKOKA MEN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

MUSKOKA — As business life slowly returns and the long weekend wasn’t busy as feared, the Victoria Day holiday kept police on the go mostly with impaired drug and alcohol charges — including two accidents.

Five Muskoka men were charged all in separate incidents:

SATURDAY

  • At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were conducting a RIDE check at Hw. 11 north at Hwy. 118 in Bracebridge.

Police charged 27-year-old Ryan Morrow, of Bracebridge, with Operation While Impaired by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) CDSA 4(1), and Fail to Comply with Probation CC 733.1(1).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 7, 2020, to answer to his charges. His vehicle was impounded and driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

  • Later that afternoon, May 16, at 1:30 p.m., police responded to a concern from a motorist about the driving behaviour of a driver headed north on Hwy. 11 in Gravenhurst.

Officers located the vehicle that had pulled into a service station and charged 50-year-old Gavin Murray, of Bracebridge, with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC320.14 (1)(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 7, 2020 to answer to his charges. His vehicle was impounded and driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

  • Saturday night, at 9:40 p.m., the OPP responded to a concern from a member of the public about the well-being of a person acting strangely, crawling on the ground, in Gravenhurst.

Officers found the people involved and and a related vehicle.

As a result, police arrested and charged 51-year-old David Lane, of Gravenhurst, with Operation While Impaired -Over 80 CC320.14 (1)(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on August 4, 2020 to answer to his charge. His vehicle was also impounded and driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

SUNDAY:

  • Just after midnight Sunday, at 12:15 a.m., police responded to a single vehicle collision on Santa’s Village Road in Bracebridge.

Officers found and charged 28-year-old Ryan Cross, of Bracebridge, with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

He is appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 30, 2020 to answer to his charges. His vehicle was impounded and driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

  • Later Sunday, at 7:20 a.m., police responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 141 near Dee Bank Road in Muskoka Lakes Twp. after a passerby reported that a vehicle was lodged in a ditch.

Officers arrived and after an investigation charged 57-year-old Andrew Myers, of Muskoka Lakes Twp., with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on July 7, 2020 to answer to his charges. His vehicle was impounded and driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

Police charged five Muskoka men with impaired driving Saturday and Sunday.
