#THE OUTDOORS IS NOT CANCELLED

BRACEBRIDGE — Muskoka Conservancy urges everyone to stay home, be safe and maintain social distancing during pandemic.

But if you are still want to get out, get exercise, fresh air and sunshine, they remind hikers of the current trail access restrictions on lands they hold in trust.

They continue to monitor the outbreak and will update its policies as required.

You can check their website or our social media for updates on trail access.

The following is the most up-to-date information on its three trails:

Upjohn Wetland Access Trail remains open for public use.

Please observe social distancing and all health guidelines.

Dyer Memorial Nature Reserve remains closed until May 1st.

Eilean Gowan Island Trail will be closed until further notice.

As well, Muskoka Conservancy staff are working and are available to serve you by phone or email as usual.

Its office and gift shop at 47 Quebec Street, Bracebridge is closed.

However, #The Outdoors is Not Cancelled.

As local facilities for recreation and sports are closed and organized activities are cancelled, the conservancy wants to remind you that #The Outdoors is Not Cancelled remains open.

“We encourage you to get outdoors and go for a walk, birdwatch, or walk your dog, just remember to keep two meters from others,” they say in a release.

Post to Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #The Outdoors is Not Cancelled! and #socialdistancing

Muskoka Conservancy says bird watching is still possible. Yesterday on their FB page they posted: “Today during our #BreakfastBirdwatch we managed to finally get a photo of the elusive Northern cardinal! They’re one of the first and last birds that frequent feeders, so often we see them earlier than our birdwatch starts. A brilliant red bird, cardinals are always a treat to have in your backyard.”
