LOCAL HEALTH UNIT REVEALS COVID-19 CASES

SIMCOE MUSKKOA — The public clamour for more clarity around regional cases of COVID-19 garnered a positive response from the much challenged local health unit.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) said Monday it currently has 10 confirmed cases of the corona virus.

It says there are two hospitalizations and two deaths among the 10 cases now reported.

The tables below list details on all confirmed cases within Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka.

The graph below shows the number of confirmed cases by date of symptom onset.

They said in their latest updated release Monday that to date nine cases either have a history of travel to an affected area or are a close contact of a case.

One case’s source of infection is currently under investigation.

Technical Notes:

  • Cases are assigned to SMDHU based on the residential address of the patient, not the location of the hospital the patient was seen at.
  • For cases that reside outside of Ontario, cases are assigned to the health unit that is actively following up with the patient.
