DRIVER DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK ON HWY. 11 AT S. MARY LAKE RD.

HUNTSVILLE A Sudbury woman has died after her vehicle was struck by a cube van on Hwy. 11 Friday morning.

Provincial police say that on Dec. 6, at about 10:30 a.m., the OPP, Muskoka EMS and Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire all received 911 calls to a serious collision at South Mary Lake Road in Huntsville.

An initial investigation found that a BMW was westbound on South Mary Lake Road and was struck by a cube van that was northbound on Highway #11.

The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the cube van were treated by paramedics and released at the scene.

The driver of the BMW has been identified as Keisha Andrews, aged 41.

OPP Traffic Reconstructionist, along with Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Hwy. 11 northbound was closed at the scene for several hours, with traffic being redirected north on Greer Road, Huntsville.

Police did not say if there were any charges involved.

The Ministry of Transportation recently announced it is in the process of making safety improvements at at-grade intersections along Hwy. 11 between Bracebridge and Huntsville.

A Sudbury woman, 41, died Friday when her BMW was struck by a cube van. Police did not report any charges.
