BLESSING OF ANIMALS OCT. 6, ST. JAMES CHURCH GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — The popular annual Blessing of the Animals is happening at St. James Anglican Church, 191 Hotchkiss Street, Gravenhurst on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m.

This short, informal service is an opportunity to bless our animal friends who bless us with their unconditional love all year.

It is a community event and all animals and their owners are welcome.

Your pet need not be a church-goer to attend, jokes Mary Leger, in a release.

If your pet is not comfortable in the presence of others, bring a photo.

No pets?  No problem?

“Please join us anyway,” says Leger. “We guarantee a smile or two.”

The event is free; but if you wish to make a donation to the local animal shelter or bring pet food for the local food bank, they will gladly accept it on their behalf, and drop it off.

Dogs don’t have to be regular churchgoers to attend, jokes Mary Leger.
Dogs and pets of all sizes – even photos of your pet – are welcome Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m.
The late Tom Brooks and Chico were regular visitors to the Blessing of the Animals at the Gravenhurst Anglican church.
