HUNTSVILLE FAMILY’S SUMMER ROAD TRIP WINS THEM SUV

HUNTSVILLE — A local family here is driving away with a new Chevrolet Equinox and a $10,000 donation to the Town of Elora after their summer vacation trip won a national GM-sponsored road contest.

The Shavers won ‘The Most Road Trippable Town in Canada’ after competing against eight other families from across Canada in search for their province’s most scenic road trip destinations.

The contest, hosted by Chevrolet Canada, sent each family off on a road trip earlier this summer in one of three Chevrolet SUVs (the Traverse, the Equinox and the Blazer).

Each family was to document and share their journey with Canada who voted for their top-three favourite trips.

Following that, a panel of judges reviewed the top-three and on Aug. 19, the Shavers became winners for their Ontario road trip from Huntsville to Elora.

The family will now be heading back to Elora for a celebration ceremony Thursday Sept. 5 where they will accept their grand prize to continue making lasting memories together. They will also take part in the donation presentation where Elora’s Mayor, Kelly Linton, will accept the $10,000 in-kind donation, which will go towards planting a new garden bed in Victoria Park.

The inventive Shaver family left their mark along the way this summer en route to Elora.
Fun in the sun and a lot of dancing was part of the Shaver family’s road trip that won them a GM Chevy Equinox.
