WHARF REPAIRS CONTINUE THIS WEEK ON ‘DOCK B’

GRAVENNHURST — It seems repair work at the Muskoka Wharf is gong to take longer than expected.

A completion date of last Friday, Aug. 9 has been pushed back until at least Tuesday, Aug. 13.

The town said in a release Friday morning that its infrastructure department in collaboration with Galcon Marina will continue to complete pile repair work on the ‘Dock B’ landing located at Muskoka Wharf.

After undergoing work all week and being closed one day, they say that on Tuesday Aug. 13, the dock will again be closed to pedestrian and boat traffic while concrete is being poured.

Pile repair involves embedding steel piping into the ground and filling them with concreate. This provides reinforcement and stabilization.

The Town of Gravenhurst in partnership with Tatham Engineering completed a dock Condition Assessment in June of 2019. The investigation revealed more advanced corrosion than expected on the supporting Steel I-beam piles for Dock B landing.

It says the restoration work will resume Tuesday August 13, from 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dock repairs will see pouring of concrete Tuesday, Aug. 13, resulting in another day of it being closed to all users. (Town of Gravenhurst photo)
