GULL LAKE SWIM ADVISORY BACK ON AUG. 7

GRAVENHURST — The (n)ever-ending round of swim advisories for Gull Lake is rearing its ugly head again.

The Town of Gravenhurst said Wednesday that based on beach water samples collected on Tuesday Aug. 6, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is recommending that Gull Lake Rotary Park Beach be posted with swim advisory signs due to elevated levels of E. coli.

This at least the third time the beach has been under an advisement this summer.

The town will be providing modified swimming lessons at Gull Lake Beach and be in contact with all participants should there be further changes to the schedule.

During a swimming advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers that may increase your risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness.

If you choose to swim during a swimming advisory avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.

Swimmers in Gull Lake are urged to do with caution and not to put their head below surface or get water in their mouth, as of Aug. 7.
