TRAFFIC JAM PLAN FOR MUSKOKA ARTS, CRAFTS SHOW

BRACEBRIDGE — Visitors to one of the largest craft events of the summer can expect traffic tie-ups and long lines around the Muskoka River and Santa’s Village Road this weekend.

That means a temporary road closures and detours.

The 57th annual Muskoka Arts and Crafts Summer Show is taking place at Annie Williams Memorial Park July 19 – 21.

Weekend traffic around Muskoka River, Wellington Street and Santa’s Village Road will see road closures and detours.

And with an increase in the volume of traffic expected, town and district staff, along with emergency services have implemented a traffic management plan to keep vehicles moving along safely and efficiently.

The plan will help to decrease congestion on Wellington Street, Santa’s Village Road and the surrounding area.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, and until 6 p.m. daily, Santa’s Village Road will be closed from Spencer Street to Wellington Street.

Vehicles going to the show or elsewhere on Santa’s Village Road will be directed to the intersection of Dill Street and Wellington Street.

Vehicles will be detoured west on Dill Street, south on Ewing Street, then to Santa’s Village Road.

When leaving the show or the Santa’s Village Road area vehicles will be diverted north on Spencer Street, and east on Dill Street to the intersection at Wellington Street.

A map highlighting plan has been provided.

Also, they say, be advised that there will be no parking on either side of Ewing Street or Spencer Street.

In addition, Muskoka Arts and Crafts has confirmed additional parking at the Pentecostal Church, Georgian College, the Rotary Centre, and Dewey Institute. Town staff is encouraging you to use these parking lots, and when possible walk to the park.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution and patience when travelling in this area over the weekend.
