GULL LAKE BEACH IN GRAVENHURST UNDER SWIM ALERT

GRAVENHURST — The town’s downtown park is the summer’s newest swim facility with a beach alert.

Based on beach water samples collected by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit on Monday July 15, it has been recommended by the health unit that Gull Lake Rotary Park Beach be posted with swim advisory signs.

It is the only beach in Muskoka under alert.

The Town will be providing modified swimming lessons at Gull Lake Beach and be in contact with all participants should there be further changes to the schedule.

It is advised that water users at Gull Lake Rotary Park beach not swallow water or put their head in the water.

During a swimming advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs that the most recent water samples showed bacteria in numbers that may increase your risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. If you choose to swim during a swimming advisory avoid dunking your head or swallowing the water.

The Town will continue to communicate with the public as new updates become available.
