FREE FRIDAY AT PROVINCIAL PARKS

PARRY SOUND — Provincial parks in Muskoka will be open for free day-use Friday as part of an Ontario-wide program to encourage use of their own “great tourist attractions right in our own backyards.”

Explore your own backyard with free park pass on Friday.

All operating Ontario Parks will offer free day-use on Friday, July 19 until 10 pm. Many parks will offer events and activities to encourage people to visit the parks and be active. Charges will apply for camping or equipment rentals.

Provincial Parks in and around Parry Sound-Muskoka include: Algonquin, Arrowhead, French River, Grundy Lake, Killarney, Killbear, Massasagua, Mikisew, Oastler Lake, Restoule, Six Mile Lake and Sturgeon Bay Parks.

For those who are unable to visit the parks on Friday, July 19, there is a coupon for $5 off vehicle parking at provincial parks available at www.ontariofunpass.com. This site also includes coupons that give up to two elementary school-aged children free admission to 16 provincial attractions, when accompanied by a paying adult or senior.

“The Healthy Parks Healthy People celebration and the Ontario Fun Pass are both great ways save money while exploring Ontario attractions this summer,” said Miller.

The closest attractions to Parry Sound-Muskoka covered by the Fun Pass are Science North in Sudbury and Saint Marie Among the Hurons and Discovery Harbour in the Midland-Penetanguishene area.

“As a regular visitor to our provincial parks I know just how relaxing a day in nature can be,” said Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norman Miller.

“I also know that sometimes we overlook the great tourist attractions right in our own backyards so I hope many residents of Parry Sound-Muskoka will take this opportunity to visit one of the many provincial parks in our area.”
