BRACEBRIDGE VOUCHERS ALLOW ONLY ONE DEBRIS DROP-OFF

BRACEBRIDGE — It’s hardly water under the bridge, yet.

But what to do with that debris.

Even thinking about cleanup efforts seems premature to people still suffering through what is hopefully the tail end of The Flood of 2019.

However, municipal officials have to at least consider the next steps.

Sand bag drop-offs will be free, but Bracebridge is limiting cleanup efforts to one half-ton pickup and a trailer.
  • FIRST: Sand bags can be dropped off at the district’s landfill on Rosewarne Drive.

(The landfill is located on the amazingly un-signed road just past the town hall, near the Peake ballfields and across Hwy. 11 from Home Depot.)

And the bags are not recyclable as the district CAO said in an earlier story.

Also, the army and town won’t come back and pick them up.

  • SECOND: To assist Bracebridge property owners with clean-up resulting from the 2019 flood emergency, the town will be issuing one (1) Waste Disposal Voucher per property to provide no-charge disposal of flood damaged waste at the Rosewarne Transfer Station during operating hours.

The voucher is valid to dispose of up to one half-ton and single-axle trailer load (or equivalent) of flood-related debris.

Vouchers for solid waste disposal are available to Town of Bracebridge property owners who:

  • Have solid waste generated by the 2019 flood in the Town of Bracebridge;
  • Do not have insurance coverage that would compensate them for solid waste disposal costs related to the 2019 flood in the Town of Bracebridge;
  • And require the town’s financial assistance to address waste disposal costs resulting from the flood in the Town of Bracebridge.

Proof of property ownership is required.
