Gryphons home happy with 1-2 record at OFSSA championship

GRAVENHURST — The senior boys’ basketball team returned yesterday after competing at the OFSAA provincial championships in London.

Ranked 14th in the province, the Gryphons gave #8 Villanova College a scare in their first game.  GHS was up 7 at half time but ultimately couldn’t keep up with the speed and stamina of Villanova and fell 73-60.

The team bounced back in their second game vs. Windsor and put themselves back in the winner’s bracket with a 62-52 win.

Logan Fick dominated the opposition with 37 points.

And in their final game the Gryphons faced #3 ranked Almonte.

They kept the game close through the first quarter, but the three-point shooting of Almonte saw them pull away, eliminating the Gryphons from the championship round.

Thank you for a great season, gentlemen — you were a pleasure to coach.

Jennifer Schandlen, Gillian Humphries (and Benjamin Humphries)  are so proud of your performance and your representation of GHS.
